JUMPING BEAN COFFEE® LAUNCHES ITS FIRST 100% COMPOSTABLE KEURIG 2.0 POD
St. John’s, NL – Jumping Bean Coffee is proud to announce it is among the first coffee companies in Canada to bring a 100% BPI-certified compostable K-Cup-compatible single serve coffee pod to market. Now consumers can enjoy the same independent, premium, Fair Trade Organic Jumping Bean coffee at the same competitive price point, but with the added bonus of removing a sense of guilt from each cup.
By partnering with Club Coffee to develop and bring our Keurig 2.0 compatible pods (using the brand new PURPOD100™ technology) to store shelves, Jumping Bean is continuing its longstanding tradition of environmentally and socially responsible innovation by adopting this technology at the moment it launches in Canada.
What differentiates our pods from other (often “green-washed”) products is the BPI certification as 100% compostable. What garnered this important designation is the unique compostable ring made from indust-rially compressed coffee chaff – a natural by-product of the roasting process. Coupled with the compostable fabric bottom and paper top, the entire pod will break down in your city composter in 5 to 8 weeks (check locally where accepted.)
We believe that in short order this technology will be adopted by every sensible company offering Keurig compatible options, and we’re proud to be Canada’s early adopters in the field.

Jumping Bean’s history has been one of innovation and concentration on ecological and social sustainability. Founder and CEO Jeff LeDrew famously developed ECO2Roast® which eliminates 85% of the waste from the roasting process – the equivalent of a pound of carbon reduction per pound of coffee, or a 60 watt lightbulb burning for 17 days straight.
